Beach Week at Pleasant Manor LTC August 20, 2020

Last week was filled with reminiscing, game playing, treat having, and excitement! Each day we enjoyed beachy decor in the dinning room, as well as special music played throughout Lunch. Residents requested their favourite beach themed songs throughout.

Aruba, Jamaica, ooo we wanted to take Pleasant Manor to the beach! Last week was filled with reminiscing, game playing, treat having, and excitement! Each day we enjoyed beachy decor in the lounge, as well as special music played throughout Lunch. Residents requested their favourite beach themed songs throughout.

For many of our residents comfort comes through reminiscing and story telling of the beaches they have been to all over the world. The favourites were Crystal Beach and Miami Beach in Florida. Some of the women talked about what type of bathing suits they wore when they were younger. The bikini was very popular! There was a slideshow about Hawaii and a number of residents had been there before, and expressed how much they loved Hawaii and would go back.

Residents treated their senses to the tropics with tropical sundaes, tropical mocktails, and a sampling of fresh tropical fruits like mango, papaya, and pineapple. This led into many outdoor activities, beach themed crafts, tropical bingo, Hawaiian move & groove physical activities, and lots more. Residents enjoyed the outdoor fishing activity – One resident talked about the cottage her family owned near Quebec, where they would spend time on the beach, and then go fishing in their boat. She was the only girl who went with her family!

All in all this was a wonderful way to celebrate summer for our residents and staff. We already want to go back to the beach!
