COVID-19 Update from our CEO May 28, 2020
At Radiant Care, we continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our seniors have access to the highest level of care possible as we all navigate the ongoing pandemic situation to the best of our abilities.
We are saddened by the recently released Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) report respecting their observations of the five long-term care homes they were called upon to provide assistance. We find the specifics of these stories very upsetting and we are heartbroken for any of the individuals who have had to deal with these horrible circumstances.
We are grateful to report that the situation at Radiant Care Pleasant Manor and Radiant Care Tabor Manor is currently stable and that there have been no outbreaks of the COVID-19 virus among staff, residents and tenants. All long-term care residents and staff were recently tested, with no positive results.
We thank our staff and health system partners for their continued dedication and hard work under challenging circumstances over the past several months.
Please be assured that the types of situations found within the CAF report are not occurring at Radiant Care Pleasant Manor or Radiant Care Tabor Manor. Since the pandemic was declared, our homes have been subject to multiple inspections by the Niagara Public Health Unit and we have been in regular, weekly contact with our Ministry long-term care home inspector. We continue to enact strict infection prevention and control measures to protect our residents, tenants, and staff. 100% of our 380+ staff have been trained in Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Infection Prevention and Control and Hand Hygiene. Our staff are consciously making the choice within and outside of the workplace to practice physical distancing and wear a mask while out in public. We continue to restrict all non-essential visitors and we are screening all staff and long-term care residents for symptoms twice a day. Where symptoms have occurred, we have quickly responded by enacting isolation protocols and having swab testing completed.
We will continue to do everything we can to deliver the best care possible for our seniors. Under the current circumstances, we are in the business of saving lives and our staff are true heroes. They are working incredibly hard to keep our residents and tenants safe and healthy. We thank them for their courage in providing dedicated care despite unprecedented challenges.
Thank you to everyone who has been supporting us over these past few months through prayer, encouraging messages, uplifting gifts, and donations. Your support means a lot to us. We will get through this together!
